It's Saturday!

I'm on the tail end of my little "vacation", as my husband is on his way home (I have a little over 2 hours left).  Last night a wrinkle was put in "girl's night out plans".  Instead of going out, the huge thunder & lightning storm we had dictated that we stay in!  So it ended up being a "have chinese food delivered, ice cream eating, put our feet up, watch chick flicks at my house" night!  Oh, not to be forgotten, the long hot bubble bath was taken this morning!  It was a fun and relaxing night!  My "girlfriends" and I lounged around on our couches after dinner and watched chick flicks in the dark while eating ice cream.  Perfect!
We had some big "booms" of thunder last night that literally shook the room!  The combination of the thunder & lightning show going on outside with watching movies in the dark was  awesome!  Everyone left around 12:30 a.m. or 1 a.m.  We got to cry a little and laugh a lot together!  We love our husbands, but it's nice to have time away from them also!

"Vacation"

Girls' Night Out Cocktail Party Deluxe Party Kit  As of this morning, I'm on a mini vacation!  No, not the kind of vacation where I had to pack and travel somewhere.  I'm on a mini vaction right here in my home!
My vacation started this morning with my husband leaving the house with suitcase in hand, and driving away.  My husband drove a couple of hours away to help his brother move furniture out of their mother's (she passed away last August) house before the sale on it is finalized.  I chose to stay home.  It's too much chaos to travel with and take care of 2 dogs while moving furniture out visiting family etc...
So at least until he returns, I am on a "put my feet up, relax, chinese food, cheesecake eating, wine drinking, chic flick watching, long bubble bath taking, night out with the girl's" vacation!

Derby Party

As I mentioned in my last post, we were spending most of our day at our friends' house for their Kentucky Derby party/bbq.
Well, the weather was questionable but we had a blast!  Every woman and  each little girl made and wore their own "Derby Hat".  Basically we went to a store and bought plain straw hats and decorated them with big silk flowers!  They turned out wonderfully! I took a picture of my friend's daughter Kate wearing her creation!!  So cute!  Each of us picked a horse and bet a $1.00 (my horse didn't win, figures!), two people won!  Also when we arrived there was a table just filled with "traditional  Kentucky Derby food" right down to the Mint Juleps.
The big adventure for everyone was trying the "Mint Juleps" no one had ever had one!  Boy were they strong ( I can see why they're a once a year thing)!  One sip and "Woo Hoo!!!
Also, watching my husband play Wiffle Ball with the kids in the backyard after he had drank one of those super strong Mint Juleps was quite hilarious!  He wasn't drunk, but even with a little buzz he was something to see trying to run the bases or tag a running child! lol!

More cool stuff
